THEhotel is a high-class, trendy hotel on the Mandalay Bay grounds. It is very cool, everything is artistic and sanitized and darkly decorated. The staff wears grey suits (because it's cool), and there is a nightclub up at the top (very cool...) The other guests are all very cool. The (skinny) women walk around in jeans that cost more then my car and look bored and tired, the men dress like they want to pick up bored skinny women. Common conversation seems to revolve around which nightclub everyone should drive their Ferraris to. THEdecor is all dark brown, dark grey, and dark dark brown. (cause it's cool.) The view is great if you get a north-facing room, with the entire splendor of The Strip laid out before you. Service was very good sometimes, and other times the staff were just too cool to try. Our bags were brought up right away, but a dead light bulb in the bathroom wasn't so lucky. I was in a suite, so I can't speak for the size of the normal rooms, but the room I was in seemed a bit cramped. There was usually not enough room for two people to pass each other without a piece of furniture getting in the way. (Remember, cool people are very skinny...) Room service was just weird, as was THEcafe downstairs. If you want a regular omlette, they can't help you. If you want an egg white omlette with brie, lobster, and asparagus... They've got one on the grill now. We walked to Mandalay Bay for food. For some reason, the wind HOWLED under the door to my room. There I was, in a VERY nice room in a VERY nice hotel, with a bath towel stuffed under the door for noise. If you are very young, very rich, and very cool, this might be your hotel. Personally, while the room was great and the view was among the best I've seen, I wasn't thrilled. |
