At the moment, this is my favorite hotel in Vegas, even more so then The Venetian. The prices are not terrible, generally lower then The Venetian and higher then NYNY, Monte Carlo, Mirage. They are still pretty new, and there is a little bit of a surcharge for that. The rooms are pretty normal sized for vegas, but decently set up so they don't feel cramped. The windows are large, and if you get a view out the Strip side of the hotel (they may charge you more), the view is beyond description. I hadn't planned on putting photos on this site, but this is the view I had out my middle-altitude strip view room, there is just no way I could do the view justice in prose. I could sit all night and watch the Bellagio fountains dance behind the Eiffel Tower from my window. Add a stiff drink and it's a little slice of heaven. The furniture is comfortable, the linens are nice and soft, and the TV gets ESPN. For an extra surcharge they will litter the bed with rose petals and chocolates, but I'd worry about where the petals would get stuck, so you're on your own if you choose this option. The casino is nice and airy, with a high vaulted ceiling and faux sky and clouds painted above. Trellises span across the gaming areas to hold up the cameras, and the walkways are plenty wide for even my big rear end to get through. One leg of the Eiffel Tower replica sticks through the roof, and rather abruptly vanishes into the painted sky. it looks out of place if you look up, but is kind of picturesque if you can keep your eyes a bit more downcast. Replicas of various french landmarks are scattered about, and the frenchy theme is pretty consistent across all the decor. The walls of the casino are decorated like a french village, and there is even a mime if you feel like punching someone who you know won't make a bunch of noise about it. Be careful, though, he might catch you and put you in his invisible shrinking box or something. You can go up the elevator to the Eiffel Tower viewing deck, or the very expensive restaurant from inside the casino as well. The staff was mostly friendly and efficient while I was there, and there was this one elevator operator who tried her best to sound frenchy when she welcomed me with a hearty "Bon jour!", but really just ended up sounding like Doris the Lunch lady from The Simpsons. Room service was very good (and VERY costly), and has the distinction of the best room service breads I've ever had in my life. I don't know if they actually bake on-site, but I'd be disappointed in a Paris themed hotel that didn't have good bread. The jams and jellies are from that great bastion of French culture, Knotts Berry Farm in Le' Buena Park, California. They are brought in, like supplies to the refuges in WWII, by truck up the grand boulevard known as the I-15 North. Like I said, this is my favorite hotel at the moment. The rooms aren't the biggest, but the view and the service level more then make up for it. Put your Atkin's Diet book down, and stay here.
