This is, in my very humble (and yet somehow always correct) opinion, the best facade on the entire strip. These guys were among the first to attempt the miniature skyline exterior with replicas of famous landmarks, and they did a fantastic job of it. Between the slightly contorted buildings and the miniature Statue of Liberty, there is no doubt at first glance what this hotel is supposed to be. Walking along the miniature Brooklyn Bridge fills me with an odd desire to giggle, which I never felt walking along the real bridge, but that might just be the tequila giggling, and not me. If you are trying to introduce someone to Vegas, and want to "wow" them, this is one of the better hotels to do it in. The interior is also VERY well done up to look like different sections of the real New York. There is a miniature street in Brooklyn, a miniature Central Park, and some frighteningly realistic looking fake trees and plants. There is even a miniature river, although it's vastly cleaner then any such water feature in The Big Apple. They have a roller coaster, and be sure to check out the Dueling Piano show. The screaming child factor is very high because this place has it's own replica of the famous Coney Island theme park, although their interpretation of a drug-infested worn-out theme park/slum with broken down rides well past their safe riding years looks more like a big-ass video arcade if you ask me. Your kids will be a lot safer here then they would be at the real Coney Island, but again I have to ask why you brought kids to a place known for getting drunk and picking up loose women or loose change wherever you happen to find them. The rooms are a bit narrow and cramped, and the windows are small. The views out the strip side should be good, but I've never had the chance to stay on that side of the hotel. Rooms near the roller coaster can be pretty loud with the rumbling and screaming. If you stay on the south side of the hotel you might have a fantastic view of the casino's air conditioning system. Because of the odd shape of the hotel building, the interior hallways are very odd. Rather then the mile-long laser-beam-straight hallways of the typical hotel, these hallways make 90 degree turns every few feet. The effect is kind of disorienting at first, but eventually becomes kind of homey, because you aren't looking down an endless hall of identical room doors all the time. The furniture is as one would expect in a middle-upper range hotel room. The beds were clean, but you won't be tempted to steal them. Room service was expensive and adequate quality. Service ranged from surly and disinterested (the teenagers working the fast food counters) to friendly (check-in) to kind of clueless (one of our cocktail waitresses in the Big Apple bar), so I guess you takes your chances. Much like the real New York, the best food was the Pizza and the Nathan's Hot Dogs. It's a good hotel. I like it, and I think you might as well.
