Before I stayed here, I had nightmares of a place full of screaming kids. The truth is, while their are more kids then I've found at other hotels, it was not unbearable. This is a "bargain" hotel, so the service is generally not what you would look for in a high-class place. Check-in lines are so long you'll wish you had Merlin's patience, lines at the change booths are so long you'd think they were giving away free money. They make up for this using the standard technique of a company with no regard for customer service: automated kiosks. You can check in via kiosk, they have slip redemption/change/bill changing kiosks, kiosks everywhere you look. You can make it all the way up to your room without having to speak to a bored desk clerk. Rooms are decently large, the beds are fairly comfy, and if you turn the TV just right on it's swiveling stand you can watch it in the reflection of the bathroom mirror! (See, other hotels have to use expensive LCD tv's to get this effect! You just have to convince your significant other to let you leave the bathroom door open...) There isn't much in this hotel to recommend service-wise, and about the best place to eat here is the Krispy Kreme doughnuts. However, you are at a great location for eating at other hotels, and the free tram will take you all the way down to Mandalay Bay if you like. I suggest you not pay for a Strip View room. The hotel is set at a funny angle, and your view is not going to be worth the money. However, I do suggest you pay the extra $25.00 at check-in for a guaranteed late checkout. It's so nice not having to run out the door by 11:00am. Room service is edible, but not much more then that. Overall, this isn't a great hotel, but the rates are about as low as
you can find on the South Strip, the location is fantastic, and it's
a perfectly good place to rest your head at night. |
