I questioned whether or not to write this review, because I didn't want to sound like I was showing off, and I wasn't sure how well my experience in one of their suites would cover one of their normal rooms. Suffice it to say, once I go back and stay in a standard room I'll update this. I was celebrating my 10th anniversary, and so we put out the money for a Penthouse Suite. Suffice it to say the room was magnificent. Also suffice it to say a night in this room cost almost as much as a month's payment on my mortgage. There was a problem on check-in, as the hotel's only non-smoking floor (according to the desk clerk) has an "obstructed" view of the fountains, and they put us in a smoking room. It did not smell of smoke at all, had been very well cleaned. It turns out the "obstruction" is a part of the facade that looks like a safety railing. I don't imagine this would be a huge impact to your viewing of the fountains. Speaking of The Fountains, I'm convinced that watching from the room is the best way. The music plays over the TV, and it's gorgeous to see. Service was amazing. We didn't meet anyone who didn't seem to care about their job, and everyone treated us like we were a lot more important then we are. The room service was so good I can't even describe it. Ever have a room service sandwich where the fries were still crisp? I was also informed by the waiter that you could order from nearly any restaurant in the Bellagio via room service if you knew what you wanted. The windows stretch from floor to ceiling. It's completely worth paying for the Strip View. The Buffet is expensive, and has long lines, and you can read more about that in its own review. The Cafe has decent food, pretty good service, and really nice views if you get a seat near the pool. The casino is oddly quiet. They turned down the volume on the slot machines, and while it took a lot of getting used to, after a couple of days it was really nice not hearing WHEEL! OF! FORTUNE! all the time. Table limits were so high I couldn't even afford to read the rules printed on the felt: I've never seen a $300 blackjack table out in the open before. The bars at Bellagio had THE BEST cocktails I've ever had in Vegas. I didn't see a single bartender's gun in use, and when a drink requires fruit or mint only fresh ingredients were used. The drinks were expensive, but worth it. I understand the drinks you get while playing are of the same high quality. The lobby has the Conservatory and a massive glass sculpture, and there is an art museum if you get tired of putting money into the one-armed bandits. I loved the Bellagio. This hotel is fantastic, and I'll definitely be back. |
