Okay, we've collected lists and details on mundane issues like where to sleep, eat, use coupons, gamble, get free wifi, bus.......
let's get to down to some important issues.
Where in Vegas can you find crispy bacon as part of an inexpensive breakfast?
We are not talking about those pieces of bacon that limply bend when retrieved from the buffet mounds and chew with a texture somewhere between venison jerky and cheap penny candy bacon.
"Plastic Bacon Oh, baby now You're such a drag!"
No..... we are talking about bacon that, when touched by tooth, snaps and crumbles in oral orgasms of crunchy bits or pork fat. Bacon that delivers the onomatopoeic Truth in "CRISP."
Bacon worth the bother.
In my last trip of 23 days I had but one successful hit.
Using my $5 poker comp breakfast at the El Cortez Cafe cost 58 cents. I asked for crisp bacon and the cook, Careless Kitty, must have heard me because I received a generous portion, all brown and barely able to withstand the movement from kitchen to table without cracking and crumbling.
But that is all I've got.
So, let the listing begin. _________________ ***************************************

The Peppermill will listen to your desire too Dewey. This photo from my recent TR shows I like it on the crisp side as well.

The problem is that the places that have a high volume of traffic typically tend to prepare large portions of bacon (and other breakfast meats) in advance (normally in an oven) and leave it sitting under heat lamps (either on the buffet or in the kitchen) where it loses what crispness it has. I see this firsthand at a number of restaurant accounts that I have. _________________

My friend, let me tell you of the days of crispy bacon at the Victorian Room at Barbary Coast.......sadly, they are gone. There used to be this sweaty Mexican waiter, and when he left, the crispy bacon seemed to disappear as well. Coincidence, or correlation? No idea.
It was, while it lasted, the best crispy bacon, ever. |

| I just read a trip report somewhere and the lady loved bacon and said the bacon on the Orleans buffet was perfect. Crispy and fresh. |

Hi Dewey. I don't like crispy bacon. I get major agita after eating it. I remember they served crispy bacon at the Elco diner. They used to call it Careful Kitty's, if I remember correctly, but from the website looks like it's the Cafe Cortez now. _________________ It's not even interesting crap. Thanks Mychal,
I had not actually done a Google search in quite this way and found that results interesting.
However, it is after all a broad kind of search that produces hits, some of which have nothing to do with the topic, but merely have crispy and bacon in the text somewhere. Also, I noticed that crispy bacon was often an ingredient in some bigger burger of salad dish.
What I sought in this thread was actual recommendations from regular Vegas travelers who had encountered crispy bacon in their travels as well as to give those soon to travel something to look for and report back.
Still, I'll skim through the search results and see if there are any finds.
I am especially looking for the inexpensive spots since I am sure that at the high end restaurants you can get pretty much what you order. I was the crisp and a deal, if possible. _________________ ***************************************

Dewey,
I was totally just kidding around
(hence, the winking smiley)
I would never seriously call-out anyone for asking a question. I was just messing with ya'.
If there was such a thing as a sarcasm font, I would have used it.
Hey Brian, can you get on that project?

OK I have ordered CRISPY BACON at 4 places in Vegas and have been accommodated at all four.
1. Ellis Island (you must ask for it crispy)
2. Denny's at Casino Royale (same)
3. PepperMill (same)
4. Hash House A Go Go, already pretty crispy, but ask and ye shall receive. _________________ Saving Taste Buds One Good Beer At A Time! |

Thanks TMRV
Those locales were in other folk's recommendations as well, so they look very solid.
If one Denny's does it, then I suppose they all do and the one at Wild Wild West would comply as well. _________________ ***************************************

Dewey, I am sure they would. By far the best Bacon I had was at Hash House A Go Go, thick cut, crispy and delicious... _________________ Saving Taste Buds One Good Beer At A Time! |

There are some bad Denny's out there, to be sure, but any decent one will have a good short-order cook who follows directions.
I can't speak for TRMV's other suggestions, but I plan to try them if I ever get up in time for breakfast. _________________ "There is no 'try'. Only 'do' or 'do not'."

Brian, man you owe it to yourself to try Hash House A Go Go, it is very unique indeed, the Chicken wings and waffles rock!!! And EI is just good old breakfast fare cooked and priced right, I highly recommend the Chicken Fried Steak!!
Peppermill is also just good food done fairly simple but served in just ridiculous portions!!!! OH and all 3 I believe serve Breakfast all day, not sure, but I think they do!!! _________________ Saving Taste Buds One Good Beer At A Time! |

I am also a HUGE fan of crispy bacon, and refuse to eat it otherwise.
For breakfasts in Vegas I usually go to buffets, and the best one so far has been Green Valley Ranch for the fall apart crispiness of the buffet bacon. With the card there its only around 8 bucks, by far the best cheaply priced bacon recommendation I can give.
Also have found on most occasions Harrah's bacon is appropriately burned to my liking, although not always.
M resort had some nice crispy bacon as well, although I can't attest it will always be that way, as I have only eaten there once. _________________ Get up and shake the glitter off your clothes now, that's what you get for waking up in Vegas |
