Just a note, at the time of this writing this is our highest-rated restaurant ever, and it deserves it. Circus Circus is a miserable hotel/casino. The inside is dingy and grungy, the circus themed decorations are mildy frightening, and the place is swimming with screaming children. However, if you can make your way through the casino and the run-down mall attatched to it you'll find wooden facade of The Steakhouse, and as soon as you enter the world changes. The decor is all dark woods and dark green panels and red seats. It looks like a steakhouse should look. Paintings of cows and bucolic nature scenes adorn the walls, along with carvings of ducks. The place looks like I'd like my library to look if I had enough money to buy all the ornate wooden furniture. About a minute after you notice the look of the place you are greeted with the scent of a wood-burning grill and cooking steak. It's the best entranceway in Vegas. Service is prompt, attentive, and polite. Our waterglasses never reached half-empty status, and the waitress kept an eye on us to make sure everything was good. If you ask for something it's brought quickly. My most recent visit was apparently during the busy season, every seat was full. Even then service was good, although it did slow down a bit. The food is fantastic. Everything is cooked on the wood-burning grill (the Maitre'd informed me they do not have any electric or gas ranges in the kitchen) and it is good. The meat has that wonderful barbeque char on it, but without the taste of lighter fluid like your dad used to do. Everything was cooked as ordered, and nothing was overdone. The prime rib is of particular note, on my last visit my brother's slice of prime rib was so big it carried the rest of our dinner to the table. The drinks were good, and while they won't put you on your ass like the bar at Quark's they'll make you hit on a couple of women who are out of your league, or get into an argument over who would win in a fight between Superman and Spiderman. The best thing is when the bill arrives. A couple can eat a full meal here, including drinks, for under $150. My most recent trip saw four big eaters drink and eat their way through the menu for under $350. This is an amazing bargain considering how prices in Vegas are climbing. I don't know how Circus Circus managed to put together such a great
steakhouse, but I'm glad they did. I try to eat here as often as I
can.
