Big Al's Oyster Bar
At: The Orleans

The Good

  • Good Service
  • Decent Prices

The Bad

  • Food Quality not great

One of my favorite places to eat in Vegas is the South Point's Big Sur Oyster Bar. I was thrilled to find out The Orleans has an Oyster Bar as well, and so when I stayed there it was the first place I tried.

I wasn't impressed.

The room is lovely, and it's much bigger then the South Point's bar. Big, comfy booths, a nice large bar, and a very cool "french quarter" brick facade.

Service was excellent.

Prices were good.

What was my problem? Sadly, the food. The Clam chowder seemed to have been sitting in the warming tray for too long, and had taken on a paste consitancy. The oysters were just a bit not-fresh, which unfortunatly is a big deal with raw oysters, both for flavor, texture, and safety.

This is a good oyster bar, but there is a GREAT oyster bar a few miles down Las Vegas Blvd, and so I just can't suggest eating here unless you really don't want to leave The Orleans.
