First off, the Hilton is now the property of Colony Capital, so I'd think the name will change at some point. I don't know if this bodes well for the Star Trek Experience, but I have hope that it will stay around just due to the fact that it always seems full. (Of course, I had the same hope for Caesar's Palace's Magical Empire.) After buying your (admittedly expensive) tickets, you find yourself walking through a more-then-halfway decent Star Trek museum, with costumes, a timeline of the Star Trek universe, equipment from the show, etc... Take your time here if you like, the rides will be there when you're done. The long hallway at the end of the museum leads to both rides that make up the Experience. One line is on the right, one line is on the left. Go to the shortest one first if you like, there is no particular order to the rides. Both rides are motion-simulator movies (where the seats move during the movie). The newer "Borg" ride is decent enough, and uses 3-d glasses, but the older "Klingon" ride has, in my opinion, the best surprise/twist ever put in a walk-through ride. If you haven't ridden this yet, you really need to. I don't want to give too much away, the discovery of the ride is a lot of the fun, so I'll just say that this is a WhatBrianThinks must see experience. Go to the Hilton, see the show, and then get gassed up on the really good drinks at Quark's Bar and Grill. One word of warning. At the end of one of your rides, after you got off the elevator and were about to enter the gift shop, a teenager dressed in a Star Trek uniform used to acost you and make you sit through the world's worst credit card pitch. I made it through without being harrassed on my last visit, so I don't know if they fired the kid, if he was on lunch break, or if, like Menudo, they killed him when he turned 17. Either way, the Hilton gets a big fat gold star for the change. The screaming child ratio here is surprisingly low, although the nerdy
geek who never got laid ratio is about as high as you would expect.
I suspect one could easily get to the front of the line here merely
by offering to show a couple of guys a bra strap, but my wife won't
let me test that theory. She says I should keep my bra strap to myself.
