The other big attraction at The Sahara’s Nascar themed area is 7/8 scale racing simulators. A big ass model car is mounted on hydraulics, with video screens all around. It’s pretty much the same technology that drives those motion simulator/3D movie rides, only you get to steer. These could have been a lot of fun, but they are in ill repair and the graphics are of lower quality then you'll find on one of those pocket-sized games the kids carry around like dialysis equipment these days. The video screens often showed in funny colors because one of the three “beams” wasn’t working right and the focus was bad on some screens. Some of the cars themselves were marked "out of order". I might be bitter because I sucked at the game, and came in 2nd in a 2-person race after hitting the wall 20 times, but I don’t think so. The service was as one would expect from bored teenagers, and the whole place just had a look as if none of the staff wanted to be there. Naturally, the younger kids I saw there were having a blast. It must have something to do with not having their dreams crushed by the overbearing weight of society. Or something. Any way... If you buy the $19 wristband at the Nascar entrance you can ride these rides and the roller coaster as often as you like. If you have kids, you can entertain them for hours for just $19. If your not a kid, and don’t really love Nascar, I’d steer clear.
