What do you do in Vegas when lady luck decides to kick you in the happy place? Why, you pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and fight your way through the crowds of other people's noisy kids to see a pretty decent animal display at The Mirage. It's not as impressive to me as Shark Reef at the Mandalay Bay, but it's a darn fine small zoo in it's own right. You can see white tigers, white lions, and various other non-monochromatic wildlife in their natural habitat of the North American Casino, surrounded by their favorite food source, noisy kids. (OK, I'm kidding. They hardly ever feed people to the big cats anymore.) Aside from the land-based displays, there is a dolphin tank with an underground viewing window. You can watch the little guys frolic and chirp about, all the while wondering how many of their relatives were in your tuna salad sandwich at lunch. This is a fun time. The animals are beautiful, the display is heavy on big cats, and like Hollywood, nearly everyone is a platinum blonde. |
