During the day this is just a big bar/lounge. The furniture is basic wooden cheapie stuff, but the Decor is very pretty, sort of an old NY tavern look with dark wood panels, dim lights, and the like. Every night, at 8:00pm, they start a “Dueling Piano” show, where a rotating cast of musicians bang out old classic piano tunes on two grand pianos (Think Billy Joel, not Chopin.) They hand out papers to write requests, and as they point out at the start of their show “the paper by itself is a SUGGESTION, a paper with money attached to it is a REQUEST”. Think of them as a live jukebox, if you want a song, kick ‘em a buck. The show is a blast, and they do all the important songs (Great Balls O’ Fire, Piano Man, etc…) very well. They banter, they make fun of each other, and they get the audience involved in the show. They continue until something like 2:00am, and the cocktail waitresses keep the booze flowing. There is a cover charge after the show starts, and the place fills up very quickly once the music starts playing and attracting everyone, so I suggest arriving around 7:30, grabbing a seat and a table, getting a drink, and waiting for the show. I really like this, and it’s a shame I don’t go as often as I’d like. This is a lot of fun. Highly recommended. |
