This show is a must-see. If you are an adult, and can stand the gratuitous use of adult language, then you need to see this show. Jonathan has had some issues with his past venues. I'm not privy to details, but he left The Golden Nugget a while back, and then quickly opened and closed again at The Flamingo, then quickly closed and opened again at The Sahara. The latest theater (the same one where the Coasters/Drifters/Platters show happens) is by far his most comfortable venue ever. Rows of tables and theater seating alternate, with plenty of wide aisles and decent legroom. My advice for good seating? get your tickets from one of the half-price joints on The Strip, show up early to the show and get in line an hour early. you'll be first in line for the non-VIP seating, you'll get to listen to the last hour of the Platters/Drifters/Coasters show (which sounds pretty good from what I heard) while having some drinks from the nearby bar, and you'll get a good seat in the near exact center of the theater. The show is vulgar, but exceedingly funny. Psychic Tanya, his bubble-headed assistant, plays her part to the hilt, often overshadowing her boss, and carrying the funniest moments of the show. Jonathan spends a good portion of the show onstage with a "volunteer" from the audience performing various buffoonery, but has added a good half hour to the show after the volunteer is excused, which is a welcome addition and makes the show much funnier. Jonathan combines just enough magic to make the show really interesting with a violent psychotic streak that makes you feel just a bit guilty for laughing at the show. I suggest having a drink or two, somehow it just doesn't seem appropriate to be sober in Jonathan's audience. My one complaint is that the show really has not changed much throughout Jonathan's career. If you've ever seen his show, you've seen his show. He's a funny man, and obviously talented to come up with the routine and act he's come up with. I think just putting a bit more effort into his act could propel him from bouncing around every low-end casino on the strip to bouncing around every HIGH end casino on The Strip. Now, stop reading this, go buy a ticket, and go see this show. |
